About
Straight Answers. Direct Accountability.
Hi, I’m Dane Ziperski. I’ll be the one running your project from start to finish.
San Diego Coastal Builder is a new name on the coast. I started it in 2026 after earning my active California General B contractor’s license. You can easily look up my credentials on the CSLB portal. The entire point of this company is that I do not oversell things.
What is not new is the work.
Before launching this firm, I spent five years in the local residential construction trenches. My background began on the front lines of water mitigation logistics: coordinating property recovery after pipe failures and catastrophic floods. From there, I stepped up to run the entire reconstruction division at Honor Construction, where I managed the day-to-day operations of the business.
I have engineered and overseen portfolios covering two distinct areas:
- High-End Remodeling: Custom kitchens, premium bathrooms, structural changes, ADUs of all types, and flawless finish layouts.
- Insurance Restoration: Navigating high-stakes claims where structural line-item accuracy is unforgivingly mandatory.
Driven by a different standard. Before stepping into construction management, I served as a police officer for a couple of years, and I grew up in the Midwest. Both of those chapters probably explain more about how I run a job site than anything on my license. I don’t tolerate chaos. I don’t cut legal or structural corners. If your budget doesn’t match your plan, you will hear it from me directly on day one.
When you hire San Diego Coastal Builder, you are getting an orderly, transparent, and completely locked-in building experience.

Why I started this
Thirteen reviews on Yelp, and not one of them negative.
At my last company, most of my work came through an insurance referral network of plumbers to mitigation crews to me. The leads were handed over warm. I never had to find a single one.
What I did have to do was earn the review at the end. Honor Construction sits at a 5.0 on Yelp, and not one review is below five stars. Homeowners were not writing about the company either. They were writing about me by name, because I showed up, I told them the truth about their project, and I did not try to take advantage of anybody.
That is the whole business plan, honestly. Do good work, be straight with people, ask for the review. It worked when someone else was handing me the leads. Now I am finding them myself.
How I got here
A new name. An established track record.
Scroll it. Nothing below is a claim this page has not already made in plain prose. It is the same account, in the order it happened.
Before construction
A couple of years as a police officer
Which probably explains more about how a job gets run than anything on the license does. Turning up when you said you would, writing down what actually happened, and telling people the unwelcome version early.
First
Water mitigation
Drying out homes after pipe failures and floods. It is the least glamorous end of residential construction and the fastest way to learn what water does to a building, and to a family, in the seventy-two hours before anybody arrives.

Then
Running the rebuild side at Honor Construction
Managing the day-to-day of the business as senior project manager. Kitchens, flooring, drywall, paint, full-house remodels, mostly insurance work, which is an unforgiving way to learn how to scope a job accurately.

Along the way
Thirteen reviews, none below five stars
Homeowners were not writing about the company. They were writing about Dane by name, because he showed up, told them the truth about their project, and did not try to take advantage of anybody.

How the company works
Me, and the trades I trust.
My job is to scope the work correctly, put the right specialist on each phase, keep the sequence straight, and check what gets built.
The trades are people I have worked with for years: electricians, plumbers, concrete, drywall, paint, cabinets, flooring. You get somebody who does that one thing every day, instead of a general crew doing all of it at an average level.
Working with me on the ADU side is Fernando, our master superintendent, who has 30 years in construction, has built ADUs from Los Angeles to San Diego, and ran crews of 50+ guys at a time.
What you can expect
- You talk to me, not to a salesperson and then a stranger.
- You get a written scope that says what is and is not included.
- If your budget does not match your plan, you hear it on the first visit.
- I check the work myself before I ask you for a final payment.
The specialists on a project
- ADUs
- Kitchen Remodeling
- Whole-Home Renovations
- Custom Showers
- Insurance Restoration
- Luxury Rebuilds
- Junior ADUs
- Hardwood Flooring
What you can expect
My job is to scope it right, put the right specialist on each phase, and check what gets built.
